Just a quick update on new books...MYSTERIA LANE, the sequel to MYSTERIA, was released two weeks ago...and if you like beefcake, you'll love the cover. Mmmm...cake.
Also, the last Fred the mermaid book, FISH OUT OF WATER, will be released at the end of November, so when you're bloated with mashed potatoes and turkey, you can read something that will help you sleep. (Hmm. I might be projecting. I do love turkey and taters. And I also like to read a new book while I'm trying not to pass out on the couch.)
Fred the mermaid was always intended to be a trilogy, but I admit I've been having such fun with the characters...I think you'll be seeing more of the Undersea Folk in the future. In particular, a Fred and Betsy team-up called UNDEAD AND UNDERWATER has been stuck in my brain like a fish hook. Assuming I can trick a publisher into offering me a contract for it, I'll give it a go.
All treats, no tricks, and Happy Halloween,
MJ

I Edit SERAPH (with help)
Tony and I got the copy edits for JENNIFER SCALES AND THE SERAPH OF SORROW. As usual, the copy editor caught about a zillion errors that we can't quite believe we made. I swear, copy editors are cyborgs...they do not miss a trick and are tireless in pointing out my failings. I actually seriously get off on this, because the end result is that I look smarter than I really am. (Tony, who has underlings in his day job, is already used to looking smarter than he really is.)
Also the cover, as I mentioned in last week's blog (written in the haze brought about by a few nights of insomnia), is kickin'. Seriously, seriously cool. And blogging about it reminds me that I keep forgetting to get the jpeg file for a) my blog, b) my website, and c) everywhere else. So I'll bug my editor for that this week.
On the topic of new books, I've got one coming out a week from today: MYSTERIA LANE, the follow up to MYSTERIA; mine is one novella of four. Also a good cover, particularly if you like beefcake. And I was overjoyed to have the chance to work with P.C., Susan, and Gena again. We totally get each other, which means they're immature and have a sick sense of humor. What's kind of fun to note is that the first book was optioned...all four of our novellas were optioned for the movies, which means that several agents, writers, and suits were involved before a contract could even be considered, much less signed. I'll be interested to see if something like that happens again. Aside from the awesomeness of, you know, the money, I get a kick out of imagining the gang from MYSTERIA in an HBO special or a movie of the week.
This week: 'nuff said. Next week: ME, MYSELF, AND WHY
